Effective communication is the backbone of preparedness. This class is designed for individuals who recognize the importance of staying connected and want to explore the tools, methods, and strategies available to them.
In this class, we will discuss the means of communication available to the average U.S. citizen — from everyday tools like phones and email to specialized options such as radios and messaging apps. Students will learn how to build resilient communication plans using the Primary, Alternate, Contingency, and Emergency model. This structured approach ensures you always have a backup when your first option fails.
We will cover when to rely on conventional channels, when to switch to alternates, and how to recognize the right time to escalate to emergency methods.
This class can be taken in conjunction with the Radio Field Operations Seminar and the Basic Antenna Theory With Antenna Build Workshop.
