Managing Zero Across Multiple Weapons

If you are like me, you probably have more than a single rifle, and possibly more than one ammunition type in your stockpile. Adding to that, you may have different optics that you zero at a different distance due to use case, such as an SBR with a red dot zeroed at 50 vs. a 16” with an LPVO zeroed at 100.

I have adopted the practice of using label maker to make a sticker for each upper that indicates distance zeroed, and bullet weight. It also helps me know which of my uppers have been zeroed, not that anyone has an un-zeroed upper sitting in their safe.

As you can see in the pictures, I’ve got an upper zeroed with plinking ammo, an upper zeroed with defensive ammo, and an LPVO equipped upper that has a 100 yard zero because of the intended use case.

Duty upper zeroed with duty ammunition

LPVO equipped upper zeroed for a distance appropriate to the intended use

Zeroed for 50 with plinking ammo

A short article I know, especially from me. Just a small tip that I have found helps me keep everything orderly.

See you on the range.
