Light Fighter Challenge II
I can’t wait for the Second Annual Pennsylvania Light Fighter Challenge! With it being held at the incredible Ben Franklin Range, it will be bigger and better than last year. It is designed to give you an opportunity to learn a little about yourself as you navigate a 10-plus mile course. As I’ve talked with those who did the challenge last year, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. One of the most common things people have expressed to me was how thankful they were for the experience. We just simply don’t do hard things much anymore. Some expressed that it was the hardest thing they’ve done since leaving the military. Others expressed that it was the hardest physical thing they have ever accomplished. There were a few physical specimens that hardly worked up a sweat, but had a blast, nonetheless.
What are you doing to get ready? Now’s the time to put that pack on and get some miles in. In the Light Fighter Challenge, you are really only competing against yourself. It’s up to you to push on to the finish line. I took the name “Light Fighter” from all the Light Fighters that have gone on before us. It is an opportunity to push yourself and grow. The challenge starts at 7am with an 8-plus mile march at your pace. You will be carrying a backpack or day pack with a minimum weight of 35 pounds (minus any water you are carrying). You will be carrying it the entire day. The 8-plus mile ruck will be with multiple elevation changes and will take you to many different points throughout BFR.
Upon the completion of the ruck, you will begin a 2-mile loop with different stages and obstacles for you to test your skills. Some of the known stages will include shooting, land navigation, medical, axe-throwing, starting a fire for time, plus a few surprises. Based on your overall time on the ruck and performance at the stages, you will earn an Attendance, American Light Fighter Tab, or the coveted Pennsylvania Light Fighter Tab. There will also be prizes for the first, second, and third place winners. The first place being a custom “Light Fighter” rifle built by LTAC.
New this year, I’ve added some side competitions for those who are just “observing” as well as the competitors after they have completed the challenge. You won’t need to bring anything, we’ll have all the equipment, firearms, and ammo for the side comps.
You will have the option to arrive Friday afternoon/evening at BFR and camp onsite to be ready Saturday morning (camping is primitive). There will be a Meet-and-Greet event Friday evening onsite. Or you have the option to arrive at 6:30 am Saturday morning.
I can’t wait for Oct. 15th to get here. Come, and bring your friends. It will be a great time!
