The purpose behind this workshop is to increase the abilities of officers and agents in the collecting and organizing of information into actionable intelligence. This course is based off of the Special Forces Intelligence SGT intel cycle. In this day and age, there are complicated threats. It is no longer simply collecting evidence and prosecuting crimes. Officers and agents must have the ability to conduct next level processing in order to take down organized criminal elements. This workshop begins with an introduction to the forms of information collection and a discussion on the legal uses of these collection platforms. After laying these foundations, the class continues into the subject of organization of criminal elements and understanding of hierarchy and support structure with a focus on targeting of the network. The class builds on these skills with the intelligence cycle, which is an organized method of planning the collection of information and processing into intelligence that is actionable. This will help in the understanding of where to place assets and help inform decision makers of where to focus their efforts. Finally, the workshop concludes with product production and dissemination of intelligence to increase interagency operability.
