LTAC Tuesday
LTAC Tuesday
On the second Tuesday of each month we hold a 3-hour seminar, clinic or workshop at LTAC HQ. Topics will be different each month and exclusive to LTAC Tuesday.
Date: May 13, 2025
Topic: Modern Day Relief Gardening - The concept of a “relief garden” came about during the Great Depression as a way to provide a household with food and a modest income. With economic uncertainty, big box stores warning of emptying shelves, tariffs, and the natural ebb and flow of weather patterns there is no time like the present to take back some control over the food you eat.
Whether you have space for a hobby farm, hobby yard, or a hobby patio, there are always opportunities to start growing your own food. In this seminar, we will talk through a beginner’s guide to growing what you need to fill the gaps in your grocery budget or cut out the grocery store all together. Each attendee will walk away with a starter kit and a plan to start their own yard-to-table renewable resource.
It’s recommended that you bring some mission planning information for the space you have available:
Soil sample (if you plan to direct sow)
Dimensions of growing space (vertical and horizontal)
Amount of sunlight (full/part/shade)
Water access
Local animals (birds, rabbits, groundhogs, pollinators, pests)
List of what fruits and vegetables your household will actually eat
